Adesso Studio is an interior design and build studio based at Westpoint, Bandar Utama, in Petaling Jaya. PJ is our home ground, so many of the homes we see are a short drive from the studio. This page explains how we approach interior design in Petaling Jaya, what kinds of properties we work on, how a typical project runs, and what to think about before you start.
Petaling Jaya is one of the oldest planned towns in the Klang Valley, and its housing stock reflects that. Mature neighbourhoods such as the SS and Section areas, Damansara Jaya, Damansara Utama and Taman Tun Dr Ismail border have many terrace and semi-detached houses that were built decades ago. Newer pockets, along with the areas around Ara Damansara, Kota Damansara and the PJ city centre, are dominated by condominiums and serviced residences.
That mix matters for design. An older PJ terrace often needs work you cannot see in the photos: tired wiring, old plumbing, uneven floors, or a kitchen that was extended years ago without much planning. A newer condo usually has sound bones but tighter rules from building management and less freedom to move wet areas. We plan the design around these realities from the first site visit, rather than discovering them halfway through the build.
Timelines depend heavily on scope. A condo refresh focused on carpentry and lighting is much shorter than a full terrace renovation involving hacking, wiring and plumbing. Approvals can also add time, so we give you a project schedule together with the quotation, once the scope is agreed.
For landed homes in PJ, structural, extension or external works generally need a permit from Majlis Bandaraya Petaling Jaya (MBPJ). For condos and other strata properties, management (the JMB or MC) usually asks for a renovation application and deposit, and sets working hours and debris rules. Interior-only works such as carpentry and painting are usually simpler, but it is worth confirming with your management before you commit to dates.
We don't quote a fixed price per square foot without seeing the site, because condition and specification change the number a lot. For a starting point, Qanvast has published these nationwide ballpark figures for a complete renovation:
| Property type | Published estimate (Qanvast, Dec 2025) |
|---|---|
| Condominium | From RM80,000 to RM150,000 |
| One-storey landed home | Around RM120,000 |
| Terrace house | From RM180,000 to RM220,000 |
| Semi-detached | Around RM300,000 |
| Bungalow | From RM300,000 to RM400,000 |

Our renovation cost guide explains what pushes a project above or below these ranges, and how to compare quotations fairly.
We have not published a PJ-address project on the site yet, but these nearby projects show the kind of work we do for Klang Valley homes: Aira Residence, Damansara Heights, Crown Residences, Pavilion Damansara Heights and a landed bungalow in Country Heights, Kajang. You can browse everything on our projects page.
With the studio in Bandar Utama, site visits and progress checks across Petaling Jaya are straightforward, and you can drop by to look at material samples. Because we handle design and build together, there is one contract and one point of responsibility, so you are not left mediating between a designer and a contractor when something needs to change on site.

Structural, extension or external works on landed homes in Petaling Jaya generally need an MBPJ permit. Interior-only works such as carpentry and painting are usually simpler. We advise on what your specific scope requires.
It depends on the scope and approvals. A condo carpentry and styling project is much shorter than a full terrace renovation with hacking, rewiring and re-plumbing. We provide a schedule with your quotation once the scope is agreed.
We quote after a site visit, based on your actual scope and materials. For published nationwide ballpark figures, see our renovation cost guide, which cites Qanvast estimates such as RM80,000 to RM150,000 for a complete condominium renovation.
